The Pro2006 was one of the most reverred scanners built and people made careers out of modifying them. The Pro2005 was very similar, with minor differences in scan speed and internal board layouts.

The first versions of the 2006 had a "Dimmer Switch" instead of a back light on-off switch for the last version. I know there was version between these but I can't recall what this one was.

As far as I know the 2005 was produced in only a single version.

Perhaps you are thinking of the PRO 2004, which had a dimmer switch and a "sound squelch" switch. That was used to clip noises that the normal squelch missed, I guess?

Edit: The sound squelch switch is used to "maintain search function when the frequency picked up has carrier only without modulated signal".(Radio Shack Manual, Cat. No. 20-119)

The PRO-2006 also had a sound squelch switch. In November 1991 production cut over to the backlight on/off switch (cat no. 20-145A) after a production run of around 45,000 units (cat no. 20-145). I am not aware of a version between these two. There are reports of a final version in 1994 that was cell blocked, but I have never seen one and know of no documentation for it.

This line of threads might go better as one thread. It may also be better placed in the individual scanner manufacturers areas.

I have a PRO-2006 (bought in 1993 I think) that was cell blocked but I just clipped the diode and unblocked it. I do have a new problem with it now though. After about a year of neglect in my garage plugged in the outlet it must of got wet somehow. Any way the back up battery went out and it lost all of its memory . When I turned it on the numbers on the screen only half appeared. I figured it was trash. But after letting it sit for about 6 more months all of the numbers now appear and it actually scans. BUT, the battery indicator keeps blinking and beeps along with it. I've replaced the battery. It won't stop. Can anyone help out there?
