Hello I have recently got a whistler 1065 and I am trying to get it to receive p25 for my area. I programmed it using software and radio reference download. It shows signal from the site but does not receive area radio traffic. I know there is traffic because I can see it on my other p25 scanner. But the new one doesn’t stop on any talk group. Any ideas

What programming software are you using? If you attach your programming file, I will take a look at it to check for problems. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file. Check your squelch setting. Are scan lists turned on?

If you're talking about the SIRN system then you're out of luck as the 1065 doesn't support P25 Phase 2. The 1065 is an older scanner. You'll need the Uniden SDS-100/200 (ideally) or 325P2/996P2 scanners -- older models but should work fine. The Whistler TRX series will work but their performance may not be as good on Phase 2.

The SIRN system is Phase 2 capable but the talkgroups in Braxton County are currently Phase 1.

Just program the system as P25 Auto.
Please attach your Win500 programming file so that I can take a look at it. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

The system is Phase-II capable but Braxton County talkgroups are FDMA (mode "D") so the WS1065 should be able to track it just fine as long as sites aren't simulcast (none of Braxton County sites appear to be), but if they were then it'll likely struggle

Give this file a try. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open with Win500 and Upload to Scanner. I have it setup as 3 separate systems. Each system has a different site so that you can select sites by scan list. Your closest site will be Burnsville. Gassaway should be next and then Elmira. Once you upload the file to your scanner, turn off scan lists 1, 2, and 3 so that you are scanning only the conventional frequencies in scan list 4. Turn the squelch fully counterclockwise. Slowly turn it up until it just quiets the noise. Turn off scan list 4. Starting with scan list 1, listen to 1, 2, and 3 one at a time. If you hear talkgroups, that site is within range and can be used. Scan lists as follows:

SCAN LISTS:
1. BraxCo Burnsvlle
2. BraxCo Gassaway
3. BraxCo Elmira
4. BraxCo Conventnl
