What scanner I need to buy to get (new orleans and jefferson parish police dept.I have a (pro2050)now and how long would that system they using be operateing.

NOPD you will never again be able to hear on a scanner- they switched to a Provoice Digital system which no scanner can do. JPSO you will need a BC 296 D, BC 796 D, or PRO-96 to listen to the Motorola Digital system.

How long will it be for jefferson to change to that system,and St.Tammany what system they using?

Digital in new orleans area

Jefferson parish is a type 1 system, but will be changing to a type II digital system by 2006. It may be type II analog by the end of the year. St Tammany SO and New Orleans PD are Provoice. I don't know if there will ever be scanner that will work on provoice, but i hope there will be. The freq. used by the present analog system in JP will remain the same as for as i know. Law enforcement in Jefferson parish use the JPSO digital system which CAN be monitored.
