I live in an area where there are no Motorola trunking systems that are receivable within 30 miles of my home, so I can't experiment enough to figure this out, and I'm looking for some help.
I use Scannerbase AVC free software for the BCD-396T. It's fantastic with regard to logging, recording, etc. However on my last out of town trip, I noticed that when I ran it with a single system (Moto Type II analog) in search mode, if it stopped on an unknown talkgroup it neither recorded nor logged the entry. Those talkgroups that I knew and had entered into a group were logged and recorded.
I'm on another business trip next week, looking to let the laptop and scanner do some talkgroup finding while I'm in meetings. I think my hardware/software combination is fine for the job (although I do need to work on my audio levels a bit), but obviously I'm missing something either with the 396 config or the software side.
Any tips?
