Scanners in cars

Are there any laws restricting use of scanners in automobiles? Some states say you must be a ham radio license holder to even use a scanner in your car. Are there any restrictions like this in TN?

No Law against it, just don't use it for criminal purposes.

Local Laws

Please be aware local laws still exist and could be used at the discreation of the law enforcement officer if he knows about them.

Please follow a previous thread to read up.

Best thing is do not broadcast you have the radio.

I will do it. My call just recently changed, I am now known as KI4WYO. I monitor that freq on all my scanners regularly. Are you a member of the local ham club?

I used to be a member but have been out of ham radio for a number of years and just returning to the hobby. Haven't gotten around to renewing membership yet. It was a pretty good club back when I was a member and I'm pretty sure it's still the same.
