Taking it will not be a problem. Using it on the aircraft might be. Check with the flight crew before takeoff.
Also I recommend taking it in your carry on bag. That way it's just a slight delay at the checkpoint as you turn on the scanner and demonstrate that it's a scanner and not a bomb. If you put it in your suitcase, chances are some TSA types are gonna open your bag and paw thru your stuff because they will see this electronic THING in the xray, with an antenna and (if your scanner uses the infamous Uniden battery pack) a weird looking blob inside with wires coming out - an automatic red flag. This could delay your flight or worse, keep your bag from making the same flight as you.
