Wow, I am amazed that this has gone on as long as it has.

Gordon, you're doing a fine job and you're certainly one of the leaders in providing scanner feeds. Your software has been instrumental in my feed setup, and is greatly appreciated as you offer it for free.

It's nice to see you've taken the high road with this troll. It's amazing to see he hasn't been zapped from here. He already would have been gone from my site....at the root level.

It was never intended to go that far. I just take real issues with people making money off of others. My apologies, in hindsite I should have just kept my mouth shut and minded my own business.

Enough said.

So am I! A report earlier would have solved this earlier.

Absolutely enough said, especially from your foul mouthed fingertips. I have no opinion about the site mentioned; however, I can tell your knowledge about what it costs to run a streaming web site (or even a website that provides a lot of data (like maybe this one)) is woefully poor. Consider this a warning that your language, attitude and indeed your attacking other members will not be tolerated again.

I think you DO have an opinion about the site mentioned. And YES I DO know what it it cost to run a "streaming website" .

I thought a sincere apology would put an end to this.

You thought it better, to chime in.

So be it.

Thank you for your website, and for being open to my suggestions about it.

And, another suggestion, from someone who has experienced him first-hand, do NOT try to get into a battle of words/last word contest with LOUMAAG.
You will never EVER win.

He has THE POWER and will not hestiate to remind you.

Respectfully yours

Dic

Well, c'mon now.

ddemers8678 may have gotten a little, ah, "overly assertive" BUT... I think it's both right and natural for folks to be just a LITTLE skeptical about some dude from Georgia, who owns a TON of ScanXxxx.com domains, coming in and setting up www.ScanNewHampshire.com. It just FEELS like a gimmick to make somebody money, and not somebody in NH.

It's not like the owner put something explaining who he was and what he was doing on the ScanNewHampshire site itself.

We have a NewHampshireScanner yahoo list. It's not like he introduced himself there, tried to engage the community, or told us what he's doing.

Instead, this site appears -- full of Georgia information -- and purports to be ScanNewHampshire.Com. Woopee! Free feed hosting by some guy who owns dozens of other Scanxxxx.com domain names.

There are some feeds on the site, which look like Windows Media feeds to me. This doesn't seem to me to be a big deal or any major advantage or big value.

I ask: Why is this good, who's behind it, and who's profiting.

If I wanted to put my scanner online, I'd put it on Scott's site. Scott has a proven track record of dedication to the monitoring community. His site it well run, current, and relevant. it is actively managed and moderated. It has an excellent infrastructure.

None of these things applies to ScanNewHampshire.com -- at least not at this time. Heck, at LEAST take the Georgia info off the site before making it live, you know?

So, while our colleague Mr/Ms ddemers8678 might have been a little over-the-top, I certainly understand the sentiment. At least one other person on the NH Scanner Yahoo group has expressed this same sentiment.

I guess my point is that skepticism is good, even if verbal abuse isn't,

With Hope to Quell the Skepticism

I came here with a bit of skepticism as well from a link Peter posted to the NH Scanner Yahoo group. I didn't start off skeptical until some concern was raised there about how it looks like Gordon's making a bunch of cash off of the sweat of other people's backs, so to speak. What didn't occur to me at the time was the cost of actually hosting the feeds. However, after having read Gordon's posts here, I am humbly reminded of such costs. I can say with no uncertainty and considerable experience in the ISP and web hosting field that given the volume of feeds that Gordon has made available, he is not making much money from the ads, if any at all.

Regarding the concern about all of the Georgia-specific information on the site: perhaps we are seeing two different versions of the page, but I don't see a whole lot of Georgia-specific stuff. There's a long list of Georgia feeds under "Sister Sites", but that really just looks like a complete list of all the localized feeds that Gordon makes available. Considering that Gordon is from Georgia, it only stands to reason that there would be more Georgia feeds at this time than feeds from other locations.

It looks like Gordon is trying to establish a central "meta-index" of scanner feeds from all around the country, which in my opinion is good for the scanner enthusiast community in general. It's nice to have a collection of scanner feeds from around the country all in one place. If I don't want to listen to Georgia or Colorado, I don't have to click the links, but they are there if I want to listen.

In summary, I think Gordon is providing a useful service to the New Hampshire scanner enthusiast community that I only hope will grow as more folks provide Gordon with scanner input from around the area. Gordon, thank you for your time and effort in providing this service.

Regards,
Chris

I requested that Gordon create the site so that my feeds would be hosted on his server instead of my home network. I have three feeds there right now.[/QUOTE
Perhaps, maybe u shoud not be such an idiot, keep your opinions to the great state of GA> LMFAO Take a good look at what the hell are are talking about and where you are from and shut the hell up. GA and NH are very different places. Gordon may be a god from you are from, but he is **** here.

I am also providing a Salem, Pelham, Windham NH feed on scanamerica, and yes I live in NH.
I wish to thank Gordon for providing a service to both the scanning community and those who wish to listen in to their town or city.
ddemers8678 its not a problem to disagree with others, but it's how you articulate your opinions that leaves alot to be desired.

I will remind current posters that this topic died over 8 months ago and only scan-manchester's questionable post raised it back up again. I am still awaiting a reply to a PM I sent asking why this was topic was brought back up at all.
