Well, c'mon now.
ddemers8678 may have gotten a little, ah, "overly assertive" BUT... I think it's both right and natural for folks to be just a LITTLE skeptical about some dude from Georgia, who owns a TON of ScanXxxx.com domains, coming in and setting up
www.ScanNewHampshire.com. It just FEELS like a gimmick to make somebody money, and not somebody in NH.
It's not like the owner put something explaining who he was and what he was doing on the ScanNewHampshire site itself.
We have a NewHampshireScanner yahoo list. It's not like he introduced himself there, tried to engage the community, or told us what he's doing.
Instead, this site appears -- full of Georgia information -- and purports to be ScanNewHampshire.Com. Woopee! Free feed hosting by some guy who owns dozens of other Scanxxxx.com domain names.
There are some feeds on the site, which look like Windows Media feeds to me. This doesn't seem to me to be a big deal or any major advantage or big value.
I ask: Why is this good, who's behind it, and who's profiting.
If I wanted to put my scanner online, I'd put it on Scott's site. Scott has a proven track record of dedication to the monitoring community. His site it well run, current, and relevant. it is actively managed and moderated. It has an excellent infrastructure.
None of these things applies to ScanNewHampshire.com -- at least not at this time. Heck, at LEAST take the Georgia info off the site before making it live, you know?
So, while our colleague Mr/Ms ddemers8678 might have been a little over-the-top, I certainly understand the sentiment. At least one other person on the NH Scanner Yahoo group has expressed this same sentiment.
I guess my point is that skepticism is good, even if verbal abuse isn't,
