If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello. I'm new to this scanner, but not to the scanning world.
My question is: How can do I get the radio to scan only one Bank ID List at a time?

This is what I've been doing and the radio scans all of the Banks I have programmed in the radio:

TRUNK: Select Bank

Bank 3 E Scan

It will not stay within Bank 3...it goes thru Banks 1 and 2 (the only other ones programmed in the radio.

This seems like such a simple thing to do, monitor just one Bank.

Thanks for helping a newbie out.

Press the number 3, then 1 then 2. This should put your scanner in bank 1, 2 and 3, then 2 and 3 and finally 3 alone. Remember though, if you are in ID SCAN Mode, pressing the numbered keys will select/deselect scanlists. ID SEARCH Mode is best for selecting/deselecting banks.

On the 796d all of the bank numbers show on the screen in large font in the SCAN mode. Press any number to turn them on or off. If its off the number does not show. In ID SCANNING of trunking talk groups all ten list for each bank will show. Usually you would have only two or three in use. Turn them on or off the same way.
