Scanning Dallas County Freqs

Hello,

New to RadioReference and new to Iowa. We live in Dallas County and I am having difficulty picking up any traffic on my Yaesu VX-170 or a Uniden BCT8, any suggestions? (We live off Cumming Road on the Southern edge of Dallas County).

That is how am I currently listening, but I also take my handheld with me or use the BCT8 in the car. I just wasn't sure if there was something I was missing or is it just tough to pickup these freqs out here, I heard the tower was in Adel so that may explain some of my issues.
