Is it possible to scan on both the main and sub bands at the same time. I can't find anything in the manual that pertains to this.
TIA,

Yes the DJ-X11 will scan in both Main and Sub bands at the same time. The limitations for Sub Band Scanning are the same for normal reception. Overall I think the DJ-X11 is an excellent receiver with absolutely awful software from Alinco. If good software were available for this radio from anyone, I think it would greatly increase sales of this radio.

Thanks for your response Mark. What I really wanted to ask is will it do memory scan in both the main and the sub. It's literally taken me months to get the ERW-8 to talk to the radio.

Yes you can Memory Scan on both at the same time. You can even have either one scan in either direction (one up, the other down, both up both down). I only have about 100 channels programmed into my radio all by hand since I don't have the ERW-8 cable.

Got it to work Mark. I agree about the software and how long it takes to load up to the radio. I'm surprised that Butel hasn't stepped in. I definitely would purchase. As for a better cable, the ERW-7, RT Systems has one that has a better chip set for the newer WinXX operating systems.
Thanks for the help. I knew that this radio was a winner:) I was looking for a long time for an air band, VHF/UHF, scanner. Used to have a DJ-X10. That was running day and night after 9/11.

As other already have said, you can scan main and sub band at the same time.
Just remember one thing thought.
If main and sub end up receiving the same signal on different frequencies, you get an ugly beeping sound.

As to programming the unit. I went the easy way.... I asked Alinco in japan for help.
They provided me with some nice specs, from which I created an Excel-Sheet to feed my scanner with.
I can programm different memory locations, and change the bank-layout from 1 bank with 1200 channels to 50 banks with 24 channels. Or anything inbetween, as long as I end up with 1200 Channels.
Unfortunately the ERW8 doesn't play nice with my Win7 laptop, just my MacBookPro.
It's not perfect, but easier than with the Alinco software for sure. Especially when trying to enter more than 5 frequencies.
