What started it all

...
was when two B.A. detectives showed up at his house asking all sorts of retarted questions and stuff. I belive that it did have something to do with Bixby and Glenpool coming online. Remember, B.A. was helping build out Bixby and Glenpool network.
I cannot remember if TG assignments were "leaked" before the CC's were up or someone had ran etrunker to caputure the TG's, LCN's and stuff and then a match was made to TG assignments. However it went down, some paranoid moron in the chain-of-command thought that scantulsa.com was spy, terrorist, anarchist or whatever and, by god, they were going to get to the bottom of it! Shut this rouge webmaster down. How dare he post to the *gasp* world these highly classified TG's!
They used respect of a badge and the respect due an officer of the law to intimidate and imply that there was going to be "consequences" becasue the content on scantulsa.com was there illegally. The ironry of the situation is that whilst they were conducting thier little witch hunt, trunkedradio.net contained everything scantulsa.com did.
B.A. either ignored or was clueless about language codified in 18 U.S.C. §2511 that goes a little something like this:
(2)(g) It shall not be unlawful under this chapter [18 USCS §§ 2510 et seq.] or chapter 121 of this title [18 USCS §§ 2701 et seq.] for any person--
(i) to intercept or access an electronic communication made through an electronic communication system that is configured so that such electronic communication is readily accessible to the general public -- (2)(g)(i)
Moreover, to paraphrase (2)(g)(ii), any governmental "radio communication" that is "readily accessible" to the general public
may be intercepted, regardless of any expectation of privacy.

Jeeze, guess I am still a bit irritated about that .. lol. As I said before, Chris did the right thing for him at the time, and I have no doubt that everyone respects him for it.
I for one will miss scantulsa.com, it is where I got my trunking sea legs!
My wife bought me a Pro-94 as a present, and the guy at RS (Peoria & 44) told her she should also get me the Police Call CD and I should visit scantulsa.com. I spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out Police Call, finally said "screw it" and started googling for frequency websites. I found cityfreq.com -- pffftpt whatever, a lame excuse for a website. Then my wife remembered scantulsa.com ...
Chris, your website has helped more people get into the scanning hobby than you might know! Thanks for all of your hard work bro.
