They show up on eBay on a regular basis. There was alot of discussion about them a year or so back, I believe the general consensus among those that tried them was that both the optics and the electronics were nothing to get excited about.

Ummmmm they already have a digital camera attached to binocs vias one of the Outdoor Equipment Catalogs I get ....... I think its in the same one as the new lighted reticle sight I got for my shotgun....... Will look and see later for ya if you'd like?

The binoculars aren't all that bad. The scanner OTOH while not all that bad in the receive department is a *Royale* PITA to program and then use when attached to the binocs. I picked one up at a `thrift?' store for about $10 a couple years ago (I *DID* take and look through the binocs before I bought it! If they'd been bad I wouldn't have even considered it. {VB GRIN!}) and after only about 15 minutes of trying to program the danged scanner part separated the two and tossed the scanner into my "good ideas but..." storage and haven't really played with it since. The Binocs, OTOH, have found themselves a permanent home either in the console of my `farm truck' or hanging up where they can be quickly grabbed to check out something out in one of our fields. They're fairly nice 8X25 *pocket sized* binocs. Fairly bright and actually quite clear with no really noticeable `abberations'. The best thing for me is that they have enough eye-relief that they can be easiely used with glasses. $25 would be about the right price for them if one was buying them retail. The scanner would just be just another `boat anchor' sitting around to be used, IMNSHO. {GRIN!} Though that right angle antenna that came with it *has* come in handy a few times, too. {CHUCKLE!}

Actually, the addage that probably applies for the "scannoculars" is this one:

"A fool and his money are soon parted."

I mean I am a gadget person, one who fully qualifies for how you separate men from boys, but I don't think I'd have bought those things. Shoot I didn't even buy the ICOM R-3 (would have if I my trip to Europe had come off as planned).

The American public will buy ANYTHING whether it is well marketed or not. Look at all the scams we fall for.

This item was made a few years ago for the "Memorex" name, by Uniden.
We carried during it's discontinued closeout, & if I remember correctly it had very odd freq/band coverage, I believe low band was missing from this scanner, & possibly part of another "regular" band.
Also, there was no built-in speaker, audio was thru the earphone jack only, & there was no AC/DC input.
Many people puchased this to disconnect it from the binoculars, add a set of cheap powered computer speakers & they had a 100ch Alphanumeric "base" scanner for a great price during the closeout.
