Scantenna antenna question

I would like to replace the original coax that came with my Scantenna,
with about 50 feet of RG8/U. Do I still need the balun, or can I just
eliminate it and connect my coax directly to the antenna? Thanks in
advance....

Nope, still need the balun. That antenna is 300 ohms and the balun is to reduce it to 50 ohms (or 70, forget which right now).

You can get RG6 with snap and seal type connectors cheap at wally world around 20 bucks...........Hoser
