I have a BCD396T scanner. I mounted a Scantenna antenna on my friends 50 foot tower. I have the Saginaw County, MI Motorola Type II system programmed into the scanner.

Unfortunately, the Saginaw system always receives broken and garbled transmissions. I have tried different portable antennas as well as an Antennex 800MHz mobile. All reception is very broken and full of static.

When I listen to other 800MHz systems in different counties, I do not have this problem.

Any ideas as to what I can try?

I was thinking of purchasing an omni antenna for the tower...

Thanks in advance,

Multipath? Try rotating the antenna a little to null out any offending signalath. I have to do this with one local 800mHz trunked system that has two simucasting sites, multipath kills me, I have to turn the 800mHz yagi to null out one of the sites. I get the same on rubber ducks and all omni antennas, the only fix was a narrow beam yagi to null out the offending signal, just a thought.
