Does anyone know if a chimney mount setup would be strong enough to support a large antenna like the Scantenna ? My chimney has about 4ft available above the pitch of the roof to attach a mounting kit.

Thanks.

I've got a Monitenna (Scantenna's predecessor) on a 10' mast on my brick chimney. We've had quite a few storms with 50-60MPH winds, and it's still up there. :)

I used RadioShack's mount, by the way.

Are you using just the chimney mount alone with the 10' mast, or do you also have guy wires ?

Thanks.

I just run the mount...no guy wires. I have the mounts pretty far apart so its a really solid. I am using mount 15-0839 from RadioShack. Been up about three years with no issues.

It will be fine....the scantenna, although it may seem big to you, isnt really that big as antennas go....just be sure and mount the mounts as far apart as possible and secure them well.

I've worked as a mason and chimney builder for over 20 years. I'd have to say that if your chimney has not come down on it's own yet, then you have nothing to worry about.
