Has anyone had any issues with the Scantenna ST-2 receiving UHF?
I have found ( i have 2 scantenna's) They are directional to some point.
You may try facing in the direction of the signal to see if that helps any.
It helped me.

ok i got a question how good are these scantennas i just ordered one and now im getting worried i might have made a mistake after reading this last few posts. im a total newbie to scanning and recently asked for help in this area and was told there were great receiving antennas as i said im a newbie any help will be greatly appreciated i listen to 150-170 mhz for fire and emergency but mostly 800mhz for police ,dnr ,etc please can some one help me out here lol
why is your 800mhz elements sticking out horizontal instead or vertical? Is both antennas for the same radio or seperate radios?

I would not worry at all. On 150-170 MHz the Scantenna works very well. It also performs beautifully on the aero band 118-136 MHz and well on 25-54 MHz. For 800 MHz, I monitor two sites. One is 15 miles and the other about 20 miles line of sight and it gets the job done with the signals at full strength.
UHF is the only band that has given me fits. As others said, the Scantenna is a bit directional and it's quite noticable on UHF. For a test comparison I listened to a local repeater on 460.175. With the Scantenna pointed opposite of the site, the reading is 1-2 bars on a Uniden BC796D s-meter. When positioning the Scantenna towards the site, the signal strength goes up to 3-4 units on the same scanner. I have band specific antenna (Comet GP-6NC 155/460 MHz omni) that brings the repeater in at full scale no matter what height or position.
For $30 or less the Scantenna does the job for most people. Good luck.
