Hello,

My family and I will soon be driving to Florida and of course will be transiting South Carolina via I-95. For the past two trips I have tried to monitor SCHP on the Palmetto 800 system. I think I was trying to listen to too much, as the experience was less than wonderful.

I have used the data at this site and entered the CC's for the following Palmetto sites: Marion, Bennettsville, Darlington, Effingham, Lee, Manning, Holly Hill, Canadys, Yemassee, Jasper, and Bluffton.

I am looking for a definitive list of SCHP talkgroups that I should be listening to as I transit this route. Perhaps I've overlooked it but I'm coming up empty on a definitive list. Found a good one for I-85, but I-95 is what I need.

If anyone can help I'd be indebted. Thanks in advance!

Thanks a million, Milf....much appreciated. Maybe I'll hear something this time. That's quite a TRS. I went WAY overboard with the talkgroups last time around and did myself in.

I appreciate it! I'll wave as we drive by.

Yep the Pal 800, like any Statewide System is best monitored in chunks instead of a one couse meal. Trying to hear everything will get you overwhelmed and youll never hear what your aiming for. The same goes for the Louisianna, Arkansas, and so on.

I'll be passing through in a few weeks as well. Can I put all the control channels and talkgroups into one bank of my BC250D? Or do I need to put one control channel and the TGs for the corresponding area in separate banks?

Thanks

7664 is a Troop 2 talkgroup and is used on the other side of the state.

Here's the list I'd monitor. Most of the talkgroups cover many counties. I capitalized the counties that I-95 runs through for you.

29584 SCHP 65 Darlington/Marlboro (note-I-95 runs through these counties only very briefly. I would bet that SCHP in Dillon and Florence counties actually covers those portions of I-95, so you may not even need to program this talkgroup at all)
29488 SCHP 66 Talk
29200 SCHP 67 FLORENCE/Marion/DILLON
7152 SCHP 3 CLARENDON/SUMTER/Kershaw/Lee
21488 SCHP 2 Talk
30352 SCHP 99 ORANGEBURG/Calhoun
7440 SCHP 101 Talk
29968 SCHP 83 DORCHESTER/COLLETON
30480 SCHP 97 HAMPTON/Allendale/Bamberg/Aiken
30096 SCHP 84 BEAUFORT/JASPER
6928 SCHP 85 Talk
The talk around channels aren't required but if you have the room in your radio it can't hurt to program them.

Monitor cells: 60,56,54,57,53,11,10,33,51

Freqhopping: You should be able to put all of the CC's in the same bank provided that you have a scanner that will do CC only trunking.

Evan: Thanks for your info also. I've combined your list with Milf's and I threw the talk talkgroups in as well.
