I hate to drag this back from the dead but what is the status of this system? I had to travel 81 over the weekend and just for kicks decided to load this system in and set it to search for ID's as I drove through & kept the volume down as I drove through just to see if I catch anything.

I had my other scanner going with the volume up & have a lot of recorded files to go through for my whole weekend trip but I believe it did hit on some unencrypted traffic from what I heard. Did someone just make an oops & forget to press that nice little red "E" button a few times before they talked or has things lightened up a bit? I'm too far away to monitor this system from home so I don't know the current status.

I find it pretty amazing that Schuylkill County needs to encrypt there system, while NYPD and LAPD are not encrypted.

It was sold to them as something they needed for various reasons. I remember when this was first being talked about we didn't get much of any information on it - just that it was a new narrowbanded system to meet federal requirements. Seems it has been covered in secrecy its whole life - which may or may not have to do with a lack of RR members in the area up there.
