I live down US 23 from the Scioto Forest in Ross/Pike County. I learned a few days ago that the jet aircraft I keep hearing overheard are military aircraft. I tried doing a search to figure out who's operating the area & how to monitor them with my scanner. Anyone have any information so I can monitor when they're out during training (I'm assuming...? lol)

Go scroll through the posts under the 'Ohio Military Comminucations' sticky at the top of the Ohio forum page. More than likely it is the Ohio ANG 180th FW from Toledo as they use the Buckeye and Brish Creek MOAs quite often. You can also check it out the Ohio Military database: Military Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

And look up the 180th under the Lucas County page.

139.6250
139.9750
and 141.600
316.1250
240.3500

Have all been busy lately.

Its all there you just need to look for it.

The 180th FW usually flies sorties around 8-10 AM and 2-4 PM. Other users are rare. All of the following have been active in the past month (all AM mode unless noted):
138.425 180th Aux 9
139.625 180th Aux 6
139.975 180th Aux 7
141.600 180th Aux 8
141.650 180th Ops
225.700 Brush Creek tac
228.900 Huntress
260.900 Huntress
290.500 ZID
294.325 (NFM) encrypted SATCOM uplink
316.125 Buckeye tac
338.150 180th Ops
343.800 Buckeye AR
377.800 180th Prime 10

You can keep 240.350/283.800 plugged in but I doubt you will hear them. They are freqs for Blue Ash Control but the squadron is deployed at the moment.
