Do you have any idea what kind of radios they use? That might narrow the search.

I see them use two-way radios, the kind construction sites use. I live about 25-35 miles from the school and my area is hilly. I live in a single story house and my antenna is a discone that is mounted 10 feet above the roof. They are not the walmart motorola style family radios though. I looked in the FCC license search and the school is not listed. They look sort of like this

Since they are probably using simplex (non-repeater), chances are you won't be able to pick them up, even if you did know the frequency.

I have a mobile scanner antenna on my truck and I may be able to listen in the parking lot while I am waiting to leave.
