Scratched brand new BC785D... HELP!!!

Wouldn’t you know it! I finally saved up enough money to purchase a BC785D. I installed it in my truck two weeks ago. Some how, some way, I get into my truck today and there is a scuff and scratch across the screen. Of course no-one in my family knows anything about it. Anyway, does anyone know any tips on getting the scratch out? Or, can I replace the screen on my scanner? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I’d hate to have to look at this for the next ten years.

You may want to look at a fish tank supply store for acrylic scratch repair kits, maybe that will work. It did wonders on my plastic tanks, it made bad scratches dissapear!

we used to use toothpaste to get small scratches out of watches
not sure if this will work but would be worth it a try before you replace the screen

Tried using this stuff on some Oakley sunglass lenses, with some results. Worth a try. After you fix the scratches, I suggest buying some PDA screen overlays to protect against scratches in the future.(I put them on all of my scanners, cell phone, etc...work great)

Brasso works on plastics, such as watch crystals. Even deep scratches in plastic can be removed. Although the front of the can mentiones metal only, the back describes other uses, including plastic.

Displex is made for cell phone screens, but it works real well on PDA's and other plastic screens as well. Goggle for Displex and you'll find some.

Thanks for all the replies. I just ordered the 2oz sample kit of the Novus. It sold me when I saw it listed "scanners" in its "use for..." list. Ill let you all know how it works as soon as I get it.

Flitz it. Any fine compound should work well just make sure it is very fine.

Did he get whacked in the forhead by Scannist #9 after a fly landed on his head? Thus knocking him out causing his head to hit the "NO" button?

It came as a kit with 3 different 2oz samples. A cleaner, a fine scratch remover and a heavy scratch remover, plus some cloths. Figure the shipping was $3-4. As I said, it is worth its wait in gold. I don’t have to replace the screen, plus there’s enough product to get out 20 more scratches at least.
