Hello - could someone who knows about the data channel please
forward me the data speed (1200 baud, 9600 baud, etc) at which
the data is sent down on this channel?

Further, I'd like to talk to anyone that is decoding the data channel
and see what you are using (modem, homebrew "slicer", etc) and
what you use to display the data (programs, computer, etc).

I'd like to start tinkering with decoding/displaying the control
channel data, and would like to learn from your experiences.

Thanks!

The SD TRS datastream is 3600 baud, a standard Motorola Type II Smartzone system. Although the system is a standard Smartzone system, it uses only P-25 digital modulation. Any of the Trunker type products can be used to decode the datastream. All of them require baseband audio from the discriminator of a source radio. Any radio which can provide the datastream can be tapped for the baseband audio. The DOS Trunker programs generally need to have the audio passed through a data slicer and into a RS-232 serial port. MTrunker32, a 32bit console application (Windows) will accept the datastream via the sound card. T4Win (another 32bit Windows App), which uses the Windows GUI and soundcard input, does not work reliably with the system as it is VHF and T4Win does not handle that very well.

You should review the data under both the Trunking Information and Trunker/ETrunker links here on the site for details. Most of the software can be downloaed from the site here on the "Download" page, the MTrunker32 program can be found using links supplied in the Ported MTrunker to Win32 topic.

Good luck with your efforts. :)

Lou:

Thank you VERY much for the information, especially the links
that you provided. Now it's time to do some reading, and then
start hooking things up. Once done, I'll report back.

Again, thanks very much!
