SDR and Mototrbo

Ok i looked around and i couldnt find any thing about useing SDR software to scan mototrbo. i am wanting to set up a linux computer to scan mototrbo. can this be done. i dont want to start in or buy stuff and this not work. my whole county i live in uses mototrbo.

Well, there is a Linux program called DSD that provides VERY basic support for DMR. However, I would not recommend it, you really need DSD+ which requires Windows. DSD+ is basically the only game in town for DMR, it supports Trunk following, event logging and lots of other things. You should also get yourself 2 RTL dongles.

Ok thanks so it can be done with windows then I will put it on my main box was thinking Linux I had an old box I was going to in install on. So why do I need two dongles?
