Guys,
Greetings. let me ask a question I have wondered about for a long time. What advantages is it to run SDR# or any other radio program in Linux? Does the program run faster, better or what?

Many people (like myself) use Linux as their primary operating system. As such, you need Linux software to access your SDR hardware.

I tried for a while to get SDR# running on my PCLOS installation. I never had much luck. However, some guy built a Linux distribution around Debian called Skywave Linux. It boots with all the SDR stuff installed and ready. I've used it to access my Nooelec RTL dongle. It works well.

You can boot off the CD, or create a bootable thumb drive, or install it beside your current operating system and boot via GRUB. I've meant to look through the distro and see what they did to make it SDR friendly and then applied that to my PCLOS.

Linux requires you to type a bunch of commands every now and then to make something work.

First you have to get the proper settings in Linux for SDR# to work...

Linux Software [rtlsdr.org wiki]

Then extract SDR# to a folder and do the last half of the above link's directions.

To run SDR#, open a Terminal window in the folder where SDRSharp.exe is and type in...

mono SDRSharp.exe

Mono has to be version 4.4 or above.

You need to blacklist your RTL-SDR which I told you in your Linux post a few days ago...

SDR# advantages? PLUGINS!!!

As much as I would prefer to use linux with my SDRplay RSP, the options available using Windows 10 are just too much to ignore. Currently (in preference order) I'm running SDR-Console 2.3 & 3.0, SDRuno, HDSDR and CubicSDR. So, Windows 10 now has two purposes for me: SDR use and taxes. :)

And when that happens, I'll be linux-only.

Sir, can you point to a url where you saw that microsoft will charge $7.00/month per computer? I have heard nothing of this.
I and others would be very interested if in deed Microsoft announced this. Thanks in advance for the url.
