hi, is there any way to make or force sdr sharp out of realtime priority in the processes, everytime it loads into windows it goes to realtime, it works better for me at normal or below normal, I know I can change it manually but I want to make a batch program to force it into normal status as it loads into windows.

anyone ever tried this?

For controlling application priorities I've been using a very small but very cool utility for several years now called Prio (Priority Saver). It installs in Windows - doesn't work with Windows 8/8.1, however since 8/8.1 use a totally revamped Task Manager - and allows you to control several aspects of what's running:

- individual priorities
- the ability to save the priorities for re-running the apps and not having to redo the setting every time
- integrity check for files based on digital signatures if they're available and also for creating a hash for ones that don't (helpful when potential virus/trojan/worm activity could be a consideration)
- several other goodies including a TCP/IP tab on Task Manager to monitor individual connections (like doing a "net stat a" command in a Command Prompt)

Never had any problems with it and I make sure it's one of the first things I install with Windows (I use Windows 7 Pro and will continue to do so for another decade it seems 'cause I can't tolerate 8/8.1 to any degree whatsoever). You can find more info and the download for Prio at:

Just checked for myself and when I run SDR# it goes to High priority and I've never done anything to the main .exe with Prio either; I've attempted to set DSD for real time but Windows balks if I make the attempt. So far SDR# + DSD run great on my trusty Dell Latitude E6400 with a Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz CPU, never had any issues myself with CPU usage at all even when it's actively decoding most anything.

Thanks for the reply I have tried "Prio" to no avail, seems for whatever reason windows seems to make SDR # realtime no matter what, when I run Prio, and save sdr# to normal priority, and shut down, upon starting up again, sdr# is back in realtime with the checkmark next to it, just want to know why sdr# has to be in realtime, what is forceing it there?

Are you using the very latest version (v1.0.0.1172) of SDR#? Just curious because I am and whenever I launch it the default priority is High every time - I just launched it to High, rebooted just to make sure the whole system was clean and upon the reboot I ran it again and it's defaulting to High priority (which again works fine for my system even considering its age).

Perhaps one of the older versions defaults to real time, I don't know, never really bothered with any older ones since I just started with SDR# barely a week ago myself and used the sdr-install.zip archive/script to get it up and running. If you are using an older version, perhaps you should move to the latest one available and see how that fares.
