Hello All!
Recently starting using a SDR and was receiving transmissions with no issues. We had a busy day yesterday with radio transmissions and the day started out fine but as time went on the transmissions started getting super choppy and sounding very robotic. I'm not sure what changed. Any thoughts? I'm using the antenna that came with the SDR unit. Would an antenna upgrade help or is there some settings I can change up? I'm very new to this. Thanks for your help in advance!

What software? What format is the transmission? What does the spectrum look like?

Okay, that helps us get in a better direction.

On the "Tuner" tab, what are your current gain settings?

If you can take a screenshot of the top window with the spectrum for us to take a peek at, it would definitely help steer things.

Thanks!

One dongle, two systems, dongle is locked to the nbfm(Fire) so the p25 cc will be limited as to frequencies it can switch too... may help too share the systems you are trying to do. Are you playing audio straight from sdrtrunk or ingesting it elsewhere.

This appears to be the system. Totally fine to monitor all of this with one dongle at 2.4Mhz. On the "Events" or "Messages" tab, i cannot remember which, but use the "Filter" selection to only do messages about "Sync Loss" for the P25 system. After that, start playing with your gain until you find an optimal one where you are minimizing the amount of lync loss messages to few / none happening. The signal may actually be too hot or be distorted from higher gain, hence some of the strange artifacts throughout the spectrum.

The very first step with SDRT would be a system restart. Java can be a resource pig, and SDRT is known to have memory leaks. @Enjoi19 has given more in depth troubleshooting steps to follow. And its possible that there are transient outside factors affecting your reception - atmospherics, skip, etc. I would bump down your gain a bit.
