SDR to search for 'targets'

Wondering if there is a way to use a SDR to 'log' hits so I can have it search for new/unknown activity. Was thinking of using it to search the Federal bands to see what 'pops' up. Like maybe hook to a pi and just let it run for a couple of weeks, then check the 'hits'. Or the milair band -same story. Any ideas for software. have a few dongles but may upgrade to like a RSP1A if the idea has merit.

would take the list and load into one of my scanners to evaluate.

I use a RTL-SDR and SDR# with the Frequency Scanner plugin to sweep various bands for activity. This combination works great and is really fast. If you want to tag known frequencies, use the Frequency Manager plugin from the same amazing author.

I use the old ranges for AIR VHF - UHF i install in 2020. I try again a fresh install mabe it helps SDR# is funny program. By the way, Some old version was possible to move the red / yellow buttons to separate window (not be inside the scanner it self). the new version cant find these...
