Is there a way to use SDRSharp with an Airspy at a remote location over the internet ???

I do it myself with a R820T SDR. I am too curious if it would work with Airspy, as the cheap $20 dongles are very very poor at filtering out noise.

I am hoping that someone has the experience to resolve this. I have used a few different sdr radios, but the new (Ver 2.0) AirSpy is by far the best. There are several IP to USB devices out there, but I'm not sure if SDR Sharp would be able to connect to a redirected USB over IP.

SDR# can easily work with an RTL-SDR device over TCP, it's one of the Source options and has been basically forever. Now, how to set the actual receiver up for such a purpose so it's networked is where the fun begins. I know SDR-Console aka SDR-Radio has some pretty awesome capabilities in terms of using it in a networked situation with SDR hardware but I can't speak from any experience of using such a thing.

I've got a spare laptop here at home that I keep thinking about setting up for networked SDR operation so my primary laptop (the one I'm using to make this post) can be assigned for other duties without having to worry about screwing something up. In fact, the other laptop is an older Core Duo (not even Core 2 Duo) machine that's "headless" because the LCD panel crapped out so I'd be using it with Remote Desktop to get it all set up properly and then see how it goes with traditional R820T sticks. Should be an interesting experiment to see how it works out.

But I'm fairly confident that yes, Airspy can be remotely controlled without much effort, the question is how to get it done obviously. Maybe more info at Airspy's website or in the user guide/manual? SDR# shouldn't be the biggest hurdle, that's fairly easy to set up for TCP operation but you've got to have the SDR hardware ready to go so it can connect, obviously.

This might be of some interest considering the topic at hand:

There are many ways to skin this cat. (with apologies to PeTA)

You can use a VNC program of which there are many. TeamViewer is a popular one.

Using these, you can do anything remotely that you can do locally.

Does anybody know if this can be done via a Raspberry Pi using the RTL_TCP like the R820T2 dongles?

SdrSharp & Airspy Over IP (No PC At Site)

Let me rephrase my original question.
Is there anyone who has used an Airspy (Version 2) remotely over IP with NO PC AT THE SITE.

I would like to remotely control my Airspy, over the Internet. I would like to have it sit at one of my sites, connected to my router, and be controlled from my shop, or anywhere else I am that has access to the Web.

I already have remote serial controll at all of my sites using Digi Realport Serial IP devices and they work perfectly, just like I'm in the same room, hardwired to the device.

I would like to do the same with the Airspy, and hopefully, have it pass the audio and data from the site, over an IP connection to my PC where I can listen to and see the data stream for the Digital decode side.

Any help would be much appreciated.

One might think perhaps the Airspy forum could be a better place to ask this but you never know who here at RR could be doing the same or attempting it.

Airspy plugs into a PC's USB port - does your router have a USB port and installed software that will convert a raw I/Q stream to something more manageable (i.e. smaller) that can be sent over the Internet? Of course, using it fully, i.e. seeing a spectrum display, means sending all of the data over the Internet. That's 30 MB per second, 2.5 TB per day.

Things work out much better when there is a PC at the remote site - it can digest all that raw data and send a much smaller amount of demodulated audio and even a spectrum display. I doubt that exact software software exists, but it's certainly doable.
