So has anyone modified their SDS-100 by removing the collar, ridge or whatever you want to call it around the antenna connector?
I would much prefer the ability to use other antennas without an adapter to the suppose water tightness that this thing is supposed to offer.

If so how did you do it? dremmel? Grinding wheel on a drill?

Thanks,
Ed

I’m thinking about using the Dremel. But you have to go slow... too fast heats up the plastic if you are using a disc. I’ve got to see if there is a Fine saw tooth disc...

Have you looked at the modified SMA adapter @jonwienke makes? It should be easy to seal with an o-ring or washer.

Gotcha, good luck.
Thanks, I just feel that adapters put more strain on the radio and the antenna.
I have just finished filing down the base of my Nagoya antenna so that it fits, that is my solution for now.

I am not concerned with it being waterproof, I just want to be able to use other antennas.
The Remtronix antenna will not give the VHF/UHF performance I need.
