SDS100/SDS200: SDS 100 Error

I have an SDS 100. When I start the scanner, it just makes a crackling noise. FW is up-to-date, and the unit has been reset. The antenna has also been swapped.

Any help would be great!

If this is a NEW unit, just purchased, I would send it back for a refund and then buy another unit, preferably from a different dealer. I don't believe that a brand new unit should ever have to go in for repairs.

Perhaps posting a quick video, as werinshades did, would be helpful not only in diagnosing the issue, but demonstrating to others exactly what the symptoms sound like.

Does that noise happen when the antenna is off the radio completely?

Unfortunately, that's a cold solder joint and needs to be sent in, unless it's a brand new scanner as @MStep mentioned.
