Does anyone have a file they could share for the SDS 100 for the Weston/Ft Lauderdale area? I have an old one and may not have the time to update it before I go. Any help is appreciated.
Of course you can share files with others! I’ve done it other times when traveling. I’ve found that it’s better to go with a “local resident” for many reasons. Too many to list here. But that’s ok!There is really no such thing as a "File", because my interests, settings, colors, personalization, etc. will be totally different then what you would want.
Go into Sentinel and just use the pull-down menus, profile, and settings.
It's not about NOT wanting to help. It's something as simple as a setting of my "Opening Screen" which is my name and phone number. You just can't cut that out of a "File" I send to you.No. Not looking to be ”spoon fed” really. Just sharing knowledge and helping others. This “radio” is the most “user unfriendly” thing I’ve ever owned in over 60 years of my personal radio usage. I’ve programmed it for trips only to have a $700 “brick“ at my destination because just programming it doesn’t tweak all the filters and other nonsense you have to do to hear anything. Yes. I can and will program some other radios I’ll bring too - and they will just work…
So thanks anyway! I’ve already done as you both have suggested. Again. I’ve helped others just as I too have been helped to learn things and share ideas! It doesn’t cost anything other than your own personal time! And it can be a “win-win” situation!
I don't believe favorite list exports (hpe files) include display customizations. I haven't tried importing someone else's file though, but my logic is there's a display export and a favorite list export, so the two are separate. It's not about NOT wanting to help. FYI. The last favorites list that another operator shared with me just included the favorite list no profile info. In fact, I looked at it and my profile info is there. It's not about NOT wanting to help. It's something as simple as a setting of my "Opening Screen" which is my name and phone number. Correct. That has been my experience sharing and receiving files from others!I don't believe favorite list exports (hpe files) include display customizations. Thanks for confirming. That's good to know.Correct. That has been my experience sharing and receiving files from others!
Have fun down here and just note you will miss a lot of transmissions.FYI. The last favorites list that another operator shared with me just included the favorite list no profile info. In fact, I looked at it and my profile info is there.
No worries! I do appreciate all the responses. I am building a new FL for the trip. I will not have time to tweak all the various settings. So the SDS 100 will do what it will do. I’ll have a few other radios with me that are better receivers. Hopefully, I’ll pick up the difference on those.
Thank you. Like I said I'll have a few radios with me. FYI. I also received a PM from a nice person who shared an hpe file. So I'll have that to compare with what I downloaded from the DB. My experience has been that "locals" in any given area have learned from experience what works better over time.Have fun down here and just note you will miss a lot of transmissions.
We have 3 different simulcast systems in Broward County and 4 different simulcast systems in Miami-Dade.
I have to use 2 SDS200s, 1 SDS100, and 3 RTL-SDR Dongles running SDRTrunk just to keep track of everything. YMMV![]()
Thank you! I’m already back. I received an excellent file from another RR member via PM. It worked like a charm and outperformed the “mish mosh” I got on my own from the database. In my experience I have found it very beneficial to receive files from a ”local” resident. In most cases, they’ve researched things and found what works.I do most of my scanning in discovery mode, so i can record all the audio i hear and it files it away nice and neat in the scanner under talkgroups for future review.
I have modified session files for particular systems so that it will record for hours, not just the 600 seconds that the scanner is max set to.
some of my logs also have lockouts of encrypted talk groups so the scanner doesnt waste time quietly stuck on a silent encrypted channel.
I can look in my files to see what session logs I have for that area. send me a PM if that interests you and respond here that you sent me a PM
perhaps I could help you and you could help me by providing your discovery file recordings...
