When using the SDS100 with an external power supply attached to the TOP port and the battery installed, will the scanner draw power from the battery or the top port with external power?

In my experience ... First from top port but if that power source doesn't provide enough power it will also draw off battery.

I just put a USB voltage/current meter in line with the scanner while powering from the top port. It shows 790 mA with and without the battery installed. That would seem to indicate that the scanner is being powered totally from the external supply.

I've also measured 850mA as the max current it can draw at max volume and display light on and the battery charge circuit are only connected to the lower port and are current limited at a 500mA charge, so the max current it can take are 1300mA.
