I purchased the DMR update for the SDS 100 and when I attempt to enter in the key I get a message on the first digit the letter entered is incorrect. I have checked the upgrade to make sure it is correct and the key # and is also correct. Any ideas????

Thanks - Keith

I may be misunderstanding what you are saying, but you should not hit 'enter' until you have input all the characters, including dashes.

I think you're on target.

Keith,

Do not press the enter key until you get all of the key characters entered. Pressing E before all of them are in place gets you the error. Note that, when entering the key, including the dashes ("-"), you'll run out of space on the line in the display. Do not hit enter to go to the next line. Just enter the last few digits or letters, and then press enter.

As long as you registered the scanner with the correct serial #, ESN, and checksum, the key will work.

I have entered it multiple times in the manor you have suggested a I still get incorrect key entered. It has been confirmed I purchased the DMR upgrade. My SN and ESN is correct. Gotta say after dumping all this $ into this I shouldn't be having these issues unless I am doing something majorly wrong.

are you entering the -'s also?
another mistake people make is hitting 6 after the last digit is entered which creates a space
after you enter the last digit hit E

Not to be rude, but this is user error. The process for buying and entering an upgrade key is not the most user-friendly, but it works. The reason you have to enter the SN, ESN, and checksum during the registration process is to prevent you from entering the wrong serial number, because all of the upgrade keys are tied to your serial number. You have to enter all of the characters of the key, including the dashes, exactly as shown in the email from Uniden.

Make sure you enter the correct key under the correct menu (a DMR key cannot be used to unlock NXDN, and so on), you haven't transposed any characters, or substituted a "B" for an "8", and don't try to manage how the key wraps to the next line.

That is because you incorrectly entered your ESN when you registered the scanner. The first part should be "38426088..." you put "38426880...".

I'll ask IT to reset the record so that a correct key can be generated. It might take a little while. When your key changes, enter the new key. Or, if the key disappears, click to make a new key. Not sure which method IT will use.

I had that exact problem. Somehow I managed to confuse a "0" for an "8" and transposed a few characters when I registered my new SDS200 at my.uniden.com. It accepted the incorrect ESN with the checksum, and registered the scanner. When I went to enter the Provoice Key I purchased, it wouldn't accept it. I double-checked everything, and noticed my mistake. I reached out to Uniden Customer Service, and had a resolution in less that 24 hours.

First they asked me to register the scanner again with the correct ESN, which I did. I gave it a nickname to indicate it was the correct ESN, not my previous mistake. This morning there was an email waiting for me saying that the changes had been made on my account. I logged in to my.uniden.com, and didn't see any changes at first. I clicked on "Get Provoice Key" or something like that. Voila! I was provided with a working Provoice key and entered it right away, without any problems.

Kudos to Uniden Customer Service!
