Wondering if theres any real advantage to hooking up the 200 to the lan without the software,( I run linux) , not really looking to control it remotely, just maybe send it to icecast without the ext speaker cable?
How would that work? Does the scanner have a menu that configures the Icecast server IP address, port, mount, password, etc? If you find the menu then it will work but I'll save you some time looking for the menu. There is no menu so you can't connect the scanner to an Icecast server. Audio out of the scanner would be another issue since it's not mp3.Wondering if theres any real advantage to hooking up the 200 to the lan without the software,( I run linux) , not really looking to control it remotely, just maybe send it to icecast without the ext speaker cable?
A simple no would have sufficed. 🙄How would that work? Does the scanner have a menu that configures the Icecast server IP address, port, mount, password, etc? yea if I wanted to be condescended to I'd ask in a facebook group. Was a straight up question, not ambiguous or stupid. I don't give a rats ass how smart you think he might be, a little courtesy goes a long way. You give an arrogant answer, expect an arrogant response. If I wanted a windoze answer, I'd ask my 12 yr old grandson. -He happens to be a very smart PROGRAMMER that sells software and is very helpful he in the forums.

The same goes for every other major brand of scanner and radio. The only radio-related software I know of that has a native Apple port is CHIRP, which is used to program Baofeng and similar CCRs. And there are a few Linux-based SDR software projects. Everything else is Windows. In my humble opinion ... not only is there not much sense of plugging an SDS200 into the lan, there is not much sense buying an SDS200 if you don't own or have easy access to a pc running windows. Even if you got the dealer to program it for you initially, over time that programming will need to be adjusted. YMMV
And this is why you're getting added to my ignore list. Offering an answer with more detail than yes/no is not condescending, its an attempt to be informative. Your response indicates you're far more interested in affirmation than information, which usually precludes any meaningful discussion.yea if I wanted to be condescended to I'd ask in a facebook group. VLC will play the audio from the scanner from the lan connection. I am not familiar with icecast but maybe there is a way to grt the audio to icecast in linux. I know there is VLC for ubuntu
uh huh, sorry to burst yer bubble but i can program it without software, very handily I might addIn my humble opinion ... not only is there not much sense of plugging an SDS200 into the lan, there is not much sense buying an SDS200 if you don't own or have easy access to a pc running windows.
