On my SDS 200, most in the VHF range, especially on 2 meters, the S meter and RSSI swing wildly while the overall audio stays the same. The antenna is a Tram 1480, 75' of new LMR 600 coax. Antenna is approx 40' above ground, on a 3 story house. Doesn't do this on my BCT15X.

I would say it is a normal behaviour. Look at my tests where a single signal 7Mhz away from the monitored frequency will let the signal strenght indicator show that signal strenght and not the one on the frequency you are monitoring.

Both of mine have "S-Meters" that fluctuate wildly pretty much all the time. I've had some really other expensive radios over the years with spastic S-Meters.

Likely seeing an indication and measurement that your receiver is being de-sensed by a nearby strong signal although is not strong enough to actually affect the audio that you are listening to.
