SDS Upgrade Question

I am going to buy the SDS 200. I live in Lake County, Ohio. I checked the data base.
I don't see any Pro Voice or NXDN. I do see some DMR. So I think the only upgrade I would need is DMR.

Is this correct? Don't want to pay for an upgrades I don't need. Any upgrades I need I would order when I buy the scanner.
So if someone could take a look and double check for me, I would appreciate it.

Just an FYI here..... if you plan to get any of the paid upgrades for your scanner, do not pay a dealer to install them at the time of purchase. You can install them yourself at any time for much less than the dealers will charge you. It's a very simple and quick procedure that just takes a few minutes. You can purchase a digital key direct from Uniden for any or all of the upgrades at any time you wish after you receive your scanner. A 24 character digital key will be issued to you immediately for each upgrade that you wish to purchase.

All you do is enter the digital key into your scanner through the menu system... no programming is involved. The upgrades in your scanner will be activated immediately.

When I upgraded a few months ago, these were the costs directly from Uniden.... compare these to what the dealer is charging:

DMR = $60
NXDN = $50
ProVoice = $49.99

Quick note: ProVoice is not a system type. ProVoice is on EDACS systems and is marked by "D" (Digital) in the mode column. I say this becasue I made the mistake of thinking it was a system type for a few years. I would not waste my money for ProVoice since people are telling me it is slowly going away.

@fxdscon Is correct, do not go to a dealer for upgrade to be activated as most cost $75 per upgrade. It is cheaper to do it your self at the link above.

Sage advice here Tim, another good tip would be, use your radio for a while, I'm sure you will buy from a reputable dealer that has a money back return policy or exchange if you are not satisfied.

Once you buy the key and enter it in the radio it is not transferable to another radio so if there was to be a problem and you needed to exchange or return your radio to the vendor within the period allotted to do so, the upgrade goes with the radio and can't be transferred.

Thanks everybody for all the input your are giving me. The people on the RR are great.
What I need to know is what upgrades I would need for Lake County, Ohio.
I think I would only need the DMR upgrade and not the Pro Voice or the NXDN upgrade. Is this correct?
