Good Morning everybody ! Being a ham guy, I know a little about the radios and their antennas. But using my new SDS100 with P25 I'm a little confused. I'm using the rem 842s antenna on the radio in the house. I'm monitoring both P 25 phase 1 & 2 with full scale signal. Does this mean I should be hearing everything available because the ones that are coming though are full scale and all the other available should be also? Or am I still missing something not using a discone on my tower outside? I'm in Litchfield Ohio and one of the towers I'm using is labeled Medina (Seville) Thanks so much John/KD8VMK

Not sure what you mean by everything available. You will only hear what affiliates with the tower you are monitoring.

I see there are 23 talk groups on the one system, it looks like alot of them would be in active most of the times. But one I think I should hear is Seville fire & police talk groups

Is that the wrong info you asked for?

I'm not sure what you mean or where to do it at. I use Sentinel for programming

On your SDS100, press the menu button (left hand side, 3 red lines), then use the top knob to scroll to "Select Service Types", press knob to select, and there, you can scroll through service types to turn on or off. If you see "---", that type is unavailable in the favourites list you're currently using.

The site labeled Medina (Seville) is on the Ohio MARCS statewide system. https://www.radioreference.com/db/sid/6643?siteSort=county#sites Many units in Medina County use this system. For your location in Litchfield, you may also want to program the Grafton CI site in Lorain County. Some of the units in your area may affiliate with that site. Statewide systems do not honor county lines. Units generally affiliate with the site having the best signal.

Zip up your Sentinel .hpe export and post it as an attachment here so we can have a look at your programming.

You should only scan one system & one site on said system at a time, preferably the one closest to you to ensure you don't miss traffic: Scan hold. The more objects the scanner has to scan at one time will increase the chances of missing traffic

Yes I over did it on selected scans. It don't take much to slow it down to start missing calls. I see why a lot of people have multiple scanners, just like me with multiple ham radios...to monitor several band at once.
