In the backlight options, I have them set for open squelch and 30 seconds for keypress.
However, light remains lit. I then press the backlight button on the scanner to turn it off and the backlight turns off.

A transmission is received but the backlight remains lit past the timer I've already set for when the squelch opens.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

FWIW, the scanner is in port mode, without the battery, and using ProScan.

TIA

Try to change from Open Squelch to 5sec, or whatever you prefer. The 30 sec are for keypress and not squelch. Also set to not turn on backlight when using external power.

In your Profile under Display Options you might have External Power set to Backlight On...
Try setting it to Backlight Off... It should work like you expect then...

My Keypress Light set to Infinate just lets me tap a key to hold the Backlight on...
When I want to go back to Backlight on with open squelch only... I tap the Power Button once...

You can also do this with the scanner menu: MENU > Scroll to Display Options > Press E > Scroll to Backlight Options > Press E > Scroll to External Power > Press E > Scroll to Backlight Off > Press E > Press AVOID to exit the menus. I just checked my SDS100. On external power and set to Backlight On, the display stays on all of the time. On external power and set to Backlight Off, the display is controlled by the Squelch and Keypress settings.
