Did not mean that the input video voltage was 12 VDC, just that some voltage input causes the display to switch to whatever is connected to the video input, as it does when the car is in reverse and the backup camera video is displayed.
My BCD396XT's serial port output is incompatible with my laptop's USB ports, unless I use an adapter with a FITI or Prolific chipset.
I see posts where individuals are working on a remote head. What I was hoping for is simpler, no additional display screen required and no touch screen functions.
Guess I can always point a small camera at the SDS100 display, connect the video output to my car's backup camera video input and install a switch to provide the correct signalling voltage. Not elegant, but functional.
