Really? They are saying ships in 2-4 weeks on their site.

These things must be selling like hotcakes. I called Universal Radio and he said they had just sold out all of them late last week, despite showing in stock on the website.

It is on the way and arrives Saturday via USPS. It literally shipped yesterday morning from the NV location.

I can’t find them anywhere except bearcat wearhouse. And not many places sell them not even amazon even though they have the gps itself the best price.

New at this so please be gentle. It appears to me the GPS listed on Uniden's SDS100 page, the BC-GPSK, comes with the wrong cable for the SDS100 (9-pin serial and cigarette ligther plug vs mini-USB and USB).

From this thread, I gather one needs the BC-UTGC cable with some kind of 6-pin/PS2 GPS Puck, probably not Uniden unless previously owned for another scanner.

Do I have this right?

I'd hope Uniden would remove that GPS with the wrong cable from the SDS100 web page.

Yes, you are correct on both accounts. The needed cable is the one you linked, and yes, Amazon has bundled the computer programming cable that comes with the scanner. I'm not so sure its an error, but some sales correlation that they sell that cable frequently so they figure to just list it. Amazon does not, however, sell the UTGC cable and no one has it in stock anywhere. I am searching for one myself and will like get the GPS from Amazon as they have the best price. will have to pay for shipping on the cable since no one I have found that sells the cable offers free shipping at that price point.

Its me again. God, aren't you all lucky...

Ok, so I got my GPS today. I am still waiting for the 3 dealers who sell the magic, hand made like Bentley adaptor cable so I can actually use the thing with the SDS 100. Not sure when thats gonna happen, I have a backorder in at Universal Radio and everyone seems to say end of June.

I took it out of the box and looked at it and understand how it hooks up on the surface. My question(s) are this:

Does the magic cable that works with the SDS allow us to completely ditch using the 1995 legacy serial male and female ends whereby the magic cable plugs into the legacy PS2 port on the GPS itself, with the mini USB cable from that magic cable what plugs into the SDS, and then the large full size USB end plug into a USB power source which then also allows us to not have to use the auxiliary 12 volt power adaptor to power the thing on condition if the magic cable eliminates the use of the male and female serial port halfs?

Is it confirmed that the magic SDS cable does not work with the 436? In other words, as the GPS comes in the box, are both halfs of the serial ports and the 12 volt accessory power adaptor plug required to use and power the GPS if it is being used with the 436?

Please see my ill-fated attempt at humor here and my sarcasm that in no way is a bash against Uniden. I'm just trying to figure this out before I get the required cable that will allow me to answer these questions I pose.

Both of your questions have been answered he already.

Question #1 The new cable connects to 12 volt to USB adapter then to the SDS100 and then to the GPS unit with the mini din connector.
Question #2 It was posted by UPMAN THE BETA TESTERS AND ME it does not work with the 436.
What the new cable for the SDS100 does do is RUN THE SCANNER RUN THE GPS AND CHARGE THE SCANNER IF YOU USE A 2.4 AMP USP 12 VOLT to 5 VOLT ADAPTER.

What happens if the USB is plugged into a USB port and an adaptor is not used? Does it just power the scanner and the GPS and not charge the scanner?

It depends on how much current the USB port can deliver. 2A or more, no problems. Less than that, and you may get a low USB voltage error if you try to run and charge at the same time.

Thanks. That seems logical. I was asking because I know not all built-in auto USB ports are 2.4 amps and I have a couple of inverters that I just bought last week that have 2 each 1.0 and 2.4 amp. Either way, in order to charge while the unit is on, that needs to be enabled as it isn't by default, and if you were to get a low voltage error if you were using a port less than 2.4 amp, I would think then you could go in and turn the charge while on setting to off and be successful at operating the scanner and GPS since the only power draw coming from the USB port would be to power the GPS.

I know my questions are trivial to some, but the only way to know for sure is to ask.

The cable that comes with the gps kit doesn’t work with the 436 or sds100? I just got the gps kit yesterday and have the 436 and will be receiving the sds100 Friday. Do I need to get a different cable for the sds100?

If you've bought your sds 100 from zip scanners like I did. They will ship you the correct gps cable for FREE.
