I love my SDS100, had it for a couple years now. I purchased 3 high capacity batteries with the external charger, when I first got them I would maybe go through 2 during a full fishing day on the boat, (10-12 hours) then slowly after a short period of time all 3, now I can't go an entire fishing trip with all 3, they all die after about 6 hours on the water, is this normal? do they really deteriorate that fast over a short period of time? for what I paid for these things they shouldn't.

As with any rechargeable battery, the more often you recharge it the quicker they lose the longevity of charge. It also depends on the weather, heat and cold can effect length of how long they last. Combining the two can be a problem.

<snip> after a short period of time <snip>
Define that phrase in days, months, etc. Also, how often are you charging the batteries (daily, weekly, etc.)? Like @dave3825 asked
What exactly did you buy?
by make and model number. Especially what is the battery composition and is your battery charger made for that battery composition? Everything must be compatible. Finally, like @RaleighGuy said, batteries are only good for so many charge cycles and the battery’s storage capacity decreases over time with each subsequent charge cycle. I’ve seen some batteries rated for about 350 charge cycles and then being depleted at 30% storage capacity.

Here is a sample spec sheet (14 pages) for a NiMH rechargeable battery:

Lithium-ion batteries generally have better specifications but MUST be charged in a charger made for that type of battery.

Not just, that. Leaving the 'Charging While On', enabled. Also decreases the longevity the Li-Ion batteries.
