I have a problem with some transmissions at night (while in bed and scanner display off) being MUCH louder than other broadcasts. I don't have this issue in the morning or during the day (yes I know the obvious answers.....look at the scanner :) ).

My question is can I record "History Logging" without being connected to ProScan? History does not note audio level so I would have to write down or remember :)ROFLMAO:) the time (please correct me if wrong).

So my point is I either have to take my laptop back and connect it and record the history or look at the scanner and try to catch the LOUD conversation while it's occurring correct?

On another note......I wish there was a Proscan Android App

Suggestions?

What I do is turn the scanner volume all the way down at night, keep my laptop on recording with the volume all the way down. Play back anything I am interested in the next day. Except for my Minitor pager, everything else is turned down or off (I have 7 scanners running Pro96com watching different trunking sites but they are always muted). You know, you can leave just have your scanner left scanning with the internal recorder recording by itself overnight, with the volume turned down all the way.

Proscan won't log history without being connected to the scanner either via wifi or a cable.

Regards

Richard

There is a program that is available for Android cell phones called SDS Remote Display. Type that in the search for the subject in the forums here to find the discussion. Towards the end of the discussion (there are a lot of replies as it was tweaked and discussed) is a link to download it. I use it to see my display on my Bcd536 under the seat in my car. Works great and I can control the scanner using it and see what is displayed on the screen. The audio plays over the app as well. The author is a RR member and very helpful with using his app.

Utilize Proscan's web server function to stream, view and control your scanner(s) via web browser on your Android (or any device with a web browser). See Pages 29 to 32 of the Proscan Manual
I do use it and I do have a SDS200 that's connected to my PC but it's in another room and I'd rather not run it all night long not to mention I would still have to grab whatever is running the ProScan Client to see or check anything.

If no other suggestions, I guess I'll have to run it and just remember the time of the recording.

I wonder if I set my SDS100 to record audio, will the high audio level be noticeable in the recording????

Thanks Richard, I've downloaded and will check it out!

I know there has been some discussion about simulcast and if not setup correctly (?) can cause audio problems. I don't thinks that is the problem but then again I've not read enough to make that determination..... I'll try to grab the scanner and check next time to see what channel is so loud but I'm just trying to not get involved in something that I will not stop checking on and not get any sleep (sleep is difficult enough for me).

If some channels are louder than others, pretty there are volume offset settings somewhere. Not sure if it’s for convention, trunked or both. Not in front of my pc right now. There are also audio settings in @ProScan and would be described in the proscan manual linked above.

Yes! I want to adjust the volume on whatever the channel is......THAT is my problem.....I haven't caught what channel it is that has the loud volume and it is only at night when I hear this.

I'm was going to set it to record audio but that still will not help unless I can match it with history running on another scanner....that is with hope they both receive the loud channel at the same time....

I just have to catch it in action and grab the info.....I know where/how to adjust a single channel volume but I need to know that channel! This is so odd that I only hear it at night. They don't have the exact same programming since the SDS100 also has other areas that I may travel to. I need to not worry about waking the dog and wifey....I need to grab the scanner when it happens. Luckily it's on belt clip attachment so I just have to grab it....

Thanks Dave!

Just an idea of why it might be happening, from a former Police and Fire Dispatcher standpoint, and a former city radio maintenance technician point of view. Different dispatchers might wear their headsets adjusted differently, or the night shift might use a boom mike and not a headset. Things like that. As a local taxpayer you might ask to tour the 911 center and ask to see the dispatchers in action for a few minutes (I wouldn't mention the issue with the scanner though). Some localities are ok with this, some wont allow access. Can't hurt to ask.

If this is on the 200 and it’s connected via lan, you can let it record overnight with the 200’s volume turned all the way down. Then review the recording the next day to id the channel. Set recording to individual transmissions and just play them back. When you hear the loud one you will know which channel to adjust.

Sds100 on the other hand using an audio cable needs volume up to record.

Audio recordings doesn't take up much space on the scanners own SD card. Just enable manual recording, Fn+Replay/Record, and it will record everything to its SD card that you can listen to the next day to check what transmission that where loud.

Recording audio is something that I've not played with until now. Tried on the SDS100 and found I don't need the SDS100 connected to anything. It will record directly to the SD card and can be saved or played back ON the SDS100!

Was going to try last night when someone went across the hi-way and hit a power pole and took us and 800 plus others power down. We heard a crash then a boom which turned out to be a transformer. Will try again since with all that was going on I didn't want to record everything!
