Selling my 436 so considering the SDS100. For those who had the 436 and upgraded, was it worth it? My Icom R30 does a fantastic job on armer so not quite sure if I want to get the SDS100.

When I visited family in the Twin Cities area, my SDS 100 (and 200 in my vehicle) worked splendidly! I've tried monitoring the ARMER system with scanners as far back as the 796 model and the simulcast was quite frustrating with them.

Simulcast systems, as you find in the metro areas, can be very daunting. You are very fortunate to have good reception with your Icom.

If you are not in a metro area using simulcast, there is no reason to get rid of your 436. Some of my travels had me in the East Grand Forks area and I had good results with the x36 and x96 models. (But they weren't very active either as small towns are kind of quiet.)

I did a comparison between my 436 and my SDS200 on the same antenna. The 200 did allot better than the 436. Same test with the R30, the R30 was better than the 436. But, the R30 does not have DMR (dumb ass Icom). St Cloud area has grown more multicast antennas in the past few years. Nice thing about the 436/100 is the zip code scanning when traveling. Thanks for your reply.
