Received a SDS100 from Bearcat Warehouse yesterday morning. Ordered just the scanner, no additional programming. This is my first scanner, and I was a bit worried it may be difficult to figure out. I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised.

The Uniden documentation isn't great. A "quick start" or "getting started" guide would have been great. Thank goodness for YouTube videos. Got the clock and date set and hooked it up to the computer. I had already installed Sentinel. Updated the firmware and then first tried using the zip code feature. Worked great. Turned categories I didn't want to monitor off. Narrowed the range a bit, but since our zip covers a large area it was still more than I really wanted to scan. Created a couple favorites list in Sentinel and wrote them to the scanner. Easily done and worked flawlessly. Much better results for me. Holding on dept or channel is great when there is an incident I want to follow.

The only downside for me has been the volume of the internal speaker. I've read if you max it out they fail relatively quickly. I already have a couple bkuetooth speakers, so will get a transmitter dongle and try that.

The service and communication from Bearcat Warehouse was outstanding.

Had mine for, gezz, 5-6yrs?
Crancked to 15 in the vehicle and no issues other than sometimes not loud enough!
Buy yourself a good external speaker. I have a Kenwood KES-5 and it's ridiculously loud if I want it to be when plugged in.
