Hi all,

Given that jonwienke is now (allegedly) out of the scanner modding game, I'm doing some research on viable alternative solutions to get GPS inside the SDS100. I have a potential solution ordered but while I wait for it to arrive I figured I'd do some research. I've read over all the threads I can find related to this, but haven't found the info I'm after - hoping someone has knowledge they're willing to share (even if it's over PM).

Does anyone have an existing Internal GPS modded SDS100 that they could take detailed photos of?
I'm looking to see where the module interfaces with the SDS100 mainboard, particularly for the GPS data connections.

Also, if anyone knows whether the output of the GPS /TTL<->USB unit can just be piggy-backed onto the existing USB2 connection that would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if you found your answer or not , but here is some info for the SDS100 internal GPS that I have found.

I have successfully installed the below GPS unit into 2 x SDS100's , 2 x 436's and a HP1

NOTE - The hardest part is soldering the (ID) RX Data wire to the SDS100 usb type B connector , I think it's the 2nd pin from the left on the circuit board.

Hope this helps

Scott

Fantastic! Appreciate the detailed reply.

I just finished up installing a GOKU GM10 Nano V3.1 GPS and RS232 converter in my SDS100. Works great and the GPS unit is only 12mm x 16mm x 4.5mm. Spent a bunch of time hunting around for a more accessible connection point for the data wire but ended up just going with the very finicky 2nd pin on the connector.

When I get a moment I'll see if I can get a post up with details and photos.

Thanks again :)

Seeing if you ever got around to getting the photos of the install that you did. Just purchased an Sds100 and was wanting to do a gps install on it.
