The adventuresome among us might want to open the case up to see if there's a dull-coloring, the hallmark of a cold solder joint, in our own radios, or to reheat that joint in case the radio malfunctions.
You 'adventuresome' ones better understand soldering before you go opening up a $700 radio and start hitting joints with your soldering iron. The SDS radios are manufactured with lead-free solder, not the shiny looking tin-lead solder alloy you are thinking of. Lead-free solder joints will have a dull looking finish even when properly made. It is the nature of the alloy.
A dull looking joint is not the hallmark of a cold solder joint. A rough, lumpy and uneven surface is, because it is caused by insufficient heat.
Hope this helps.
