I started scanning in the early 1970's any scanner geek should love the SDS display all the system data all the signal data all the color.
I did my homework, and I arrived where I did because it was my only choice because of Provoice.I've seen your posts and if you would have done some homework, you would discovered all this before you purchased. Maybe a swap or sell it and purchase a 436/536 for the Provoice upgrade. The 70's are long gone, I stood in line at Radio Shack and purchased crystals but also have kept up with technology. As it says, been scanning 40+ years now.

I'm 56 and I've paid off my mortgage and one of my two vehicles to have the ability to work less. And very proud of it 63 and still working 2 jobs 80 plus hours a week
Nope.
Been scanning since the late 70's.
Not a fan of the SDS displays. The colors do nothing for me. All the other junk on the screen doesn't seem necessary to me. I keep them on the simple display.
That is the beauty of the SDS series. Not only can you switch off the colors and go from black on white or white on black, but you can pick and choose what you want to display on your screen.
Unless you are referring to a very special system setup by an Amateur radio club, I will guarantee you that system is going away sooner than later. There are relatively few EDACS public safety systems left in the country, especially those using ProVoice. And those that exist are rapidly going away. The underlying technology has been end of life for many years and is no longer supported. Some of are kind of stuck with this series of scanner. My area is primarily using an EDACS Provoice system with no indication of changing any time soon. If it weren’t for that I don’t believe I would be using the 100 and 200. I just don’t like them. Don’t like the display. Don’t like all of the settings and adjustments. I would rather enter my frequencies, hit scan and forget it.
Oh well. It is what it is.
The system here is our local public safety system (Harrison County, Mississippi)Unless you are referring to a very special system setup by an Amateur radio club, I will guarantee you that system is going away sooner than later. Also, the only scanners that support ProVoice are made by Uniden, specifically the BCD325P2 or newer series'. So I'm not sure how you're monitoring the ProVoice TG's unless you're using an old Harris radio or DSD+.
Pretty much everyone who monitors an EDACS system should plan for it to go way sooner than later. Ever notice how there are huge quantities of Harris P7100/7200's floating around on fleabay with only EDACS options enabled? (I'm not sure why anyone would even sell or buy those things, they are worthless paperweights).
and is much smaller than the SDS100 that is NOT really practical to wear on a belt of shove in a shirt pocket with the smaller battery.

Yes I am aware. The 436/536 also has Provoice capabilities with a paid upgrade.
Yes I am aware.
I went with the SDS series to deal with possible simulcast issues.
Eventually, your local ProVoice system will be replaced, probably by a P25 Phase II system using simulcast. At that point, the SDS scanners are your best choice for monitoring. Besides using the simple display modes, you can edit them to remove clutter that is of no interest.Yes I am aware.
