I know I'm reaching here , But it would be nice if we got credit for upgrades to previous scanners especially since I have purchased these not long ago.

With that said , The unit seems nice in design.

Think I'll wait for a while before jumping on it due to past practice of Uniden.

Marshall, would you be able to post some videos of it decoding various systems, even some analog and aircraft?

Thank You.

Hey Man,
I am hoping to do that later this afternoon (pending any work schedule changes). :)

I understand and acknowledge that listening to encryption traffic is illegal. With saying that I do like the one feature of my whistler scanner I have, I have the option to make the scanner silent and skip over traffic that is encrypted or hear different tones such as like a telephone busy signal.

My question is, will this scanner just skip over those channels that are encrypted just ignore and skip over them (436) or user have the option to hear other tones same as whistler?

Will this scanner be able to be connected to computer and control channels be decoded using the same pro96com software as the Uniden BCD396XT or BCD996XT. By understanding is reason why other uniden scanners cant be has something to do with serial ports, parelle ports or something like that. I like to occasionally watch the decoding of the control channel and see what other traffic is being captured besides just what I am actually hearing.

My understanding is that with SDR, addressing things like this and other future changes can be accomplished with relative ease...so maybe some things like this, that people want, won't happen right away, but could happen with updates. This should be a very flexible platform to "tweak" as time goes by.

Also, someone mentioned the scan rate on conventional channels earlier, and I always wonder why progress stopped in that area years ago. Has conventional channel scan rate ever increased in Uniden scanners since the BC780XLT? And that was what, 17 years ago? Have we hit the "light speed barrier" of scan speed?

Listen man we know how much you like your Unication pager as you state in almost everyone of your posts. At least you did not mention it this one. It seems you don't want this scanner or any other scanner to work so for you it might be funny. But for most people I don't think it would be.

Exactly. What is funny about one of the two companies supporting the hobby failing in their big endeavor to conquer the predominant (solvable) challenge facing scanner hobbyists, especially when it appears they have worked their butts off to do so? Someone asked "what negative posts" earlier. Perfect example.

I own and enjoy a G4, but what may happen instead, very soon, is that G4/5 owners (myself included), find out that out that for little more than what they spent on a pager they could have an actual scanner that properly handles LSM, plus has lockout, hold, scans multiple systems, scans multiple bands, etc. What has Whistler done other than re-badge and add buttons to old GRE designs? As far as I'm concerned, only ONE company is ready to offer a proper LSM scanner at this time, and maybe people could actually appreciate it....all I'm saying.

Few Questions

I have a few questions,

What type of USB cable is this going to use? Have we made the jump to the micro?

Playback of recorded transmissions with channel information via the programming software?

Any word of a future mobile version?

also, would pay for the ability to play tetris on it. Just kidding... sort of.

Some time ago ask whistler 2x easy questions about TRX1, and they understand and reply good answer.

Today i ask uniden Costumer support the same 2x easy questions about SDS100, the reply seem they dont know the difference between digital or analogue modes.

Let's hope we've made a smarter jump than USB micro....USB C would be the way to go. Old eyes don't have to strain to figure out which way to try to put in that tiny little connector, the USB C is reversible.

I've gone through this entire thread but surely could have missed something pertinent to I/Q. I saw one comment about would the I/Q be able to be output to a third party program like SDR# or SDR-Console. In the case of the former I'd guess that if it's possible someone would have to build an extio.dll to make it work, and in the case of the latter Simon would have to get his hands on one. Although I have my share of SDR's kicking about this would enter this scanner into the "killer app" territory as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't looked at the manual yet either so if it's been obviously stated therein, my apologies.

Why are you bothering them? Just ask here. Keep in mind that Customer Service has never seen this scanner, has never used this scanner, and only found out about this scanner late last week. They have exactly the same material available to them as you do.

Two USB ports. USB 2 is mini and is used for mass storage mode, serial mode, and charging. USB 1 is micro and has no function at this time.

Programming software is only being minimally changed to support the new features (primarily setting up the display).

We've only announced the handheld.

Pong.

UPMan - is the membrane style keyboard the final product or will it have more button-like keys like previous scanners?

I'm guessing the membrane will stay as it probably has to do with the rain rating, does it?

Please develop a nice factory hard leather case that's sized right and has all the appropriate cutouts for displays, lights and access to ports/charging. I still look fondly on my 200XLT case and hope there's one for the SDS-100.

I think a heavy-duty one piece molded silicone case would be preferable.

I work with the public. Something I’ve figured out is they are going to gripe no matter what. They’d gripe if it wiped their butt because it didn’t wipe it a certain way. I’m glad they are trying to fix the LSM problem. I personally don’t have any use for it where I live but lots of people do. Yes they still haven’t fixed some features that was promised on previous models but get over it. The smart thing to do if you don’t want to be disappointed is wait and buy the product after everything has been fixed. I don’t buy anything until I’ve done research and more research on it. Read lots of reviews about it. I get so tired of seeing and hearing the public gripe gripe gripe. People as a whole think they are entitled to everything. Yes it’d be nice to get nxdn on the x36 series but they don’t owe anything to us that has them. When a person buys a car do we get future updates to it? Most of the time no! Everybody needs to get over it! Just my two cents. Thanks Paul and Uniden team for trying to come out with a product that lots of people have a use for.
