During “recording playback” mode on the SDS100, the UI shows the current date and time. I’d suggest it display the timestamp of the actively playing recording. That’s more useful than the current time, in my opinion.

Otherwise there is no way to determine the exact time a recording took place, as far as I can tell. You can tell when the “recording session” started, but not when individual recordings took place.

Would this be something worth emailing Uniden about? Even if it’s unlikely they’ll change their UI, is it a valid request or am I missing something?

When playing saved recordings, the screen listing the folders containing them shows the date, though, as you've noted, when playing a specific recording, the display shows current date and time.

If you use the Universal Scanner Audio Player, you can access the audio files on the scanner (with the scanner in mass storage mode), or copy them to your PC. That program pulls them up in a spreadsheet form, where you can see data & time created, You can also sort them using the time recorded, channel frequency, talkgroup ID, & more (you can also combine data points to narrow down your list to one specific group of audio files. I prefer to pull them off the memory card & copy to my PC, rather than tying up the scanner in mass storage mode.

It might be more useful to add 2 new "items" that can be displayed, "rdate" and "rtime" rather than switch the date and time on the screen from real date/time to recorded date/time.

I can easily "see" someone posting on here asking why their time is wrong, skips around, whatever.

It's already suggested to show the files time and date while playing and are on the wish list that JoeBearcat has compiled. It shouldn't be a problem if the normal time display instead would show the file time while playing. There's little point in showing the current time and date if not only to check that it is correct when you do recordings, so no use to you while doing playback. It's easier if it is also compatible with the smaller display in x36 scanners that use the same operating system.

I requested that years ago. it was denied at that time but is being requested again. I agree the date/time recorded would be useful.

Sounds good, thank you. Let me know if sending an email to Uniden would be useful as "customer evidence". Otherwise I'll let this be, my question has been answered.

Thanks all
