There are 7 settings for each frequency or system the filter you use depends in the rf area you are in and that changes location to location but if you spend the time you can fine tune your SDS. No there is not a list of what filters work best where.

good, sierra, maybe that answers my question - filters
I have the paper manual and the radio beside me..I pulled my data from RR using the sentinel software..when I open the software... I am not an expert in RF ..I know I live in a SIMULCAST AREA but there is ALSO an EDACS system LCN the SDS100 seems to pick that up inspite of the fact that its programmed for the AFRRS System..when I scan the AFRRS system..the scanner is mute..I have 3 antennas..the stock, an MFJ 1717 Dual Band and an External Mag Mount placed up as high as I can get it..and still no luck on the Alberta First Responders Radio System,
No one has been able to give me any concrete help in setting up the radio so its..download the data and run it as it comes..I have tried..
Decode modes..for displaying data..Hex vs Decimal...no one knows or they know and will not tell you so you wind up frustrated and feeling stupid for not knowing..''oh its not the radio tis YOU..just SET YOUR FILTERS:) Oh great..whats a filter and where do I find it and why do I need to set it or how do I decide if I am better off to LEVER A and Leave Her Be,..as in the radio is smarter about signals than I am and just let it do what it knows how to do..

#1 MENU
#2 MANAGE FAVORITES
#3 PICK A FAVRITE
#4 EDIT SITE
#5 PICK A SITE
#6 SET FILTER
#7 PICK FILTER
GO BACK TO #3 AND START OVER.
Heres where it becomes a problem for me..I have been able to make 1 favorite list (its in the radio) I tried to make 2 and all it does is NEST in a Folder right below the 1st list I make in the sentinel software..(I dont want them connected) I want a stand alone 2...So I delete it and try again I get another stand alone folder for list 2 but when I try and place the systems I want in there..it does not populate and opens another window which again does not populate with the data I want for system 2 so I gave up..I have 1 favorite list.. I can not set the QUICK KEY either..so I am reduce to choosing the 1 list I have manually. or having the whole canadian database populate..so..whats to do LOL

My feeling is as much as ya pay for it, all extras should be included at no additional charge.
Some of those features may be built in but you need to pay so use the because Uniden doesn't have access to them for free, They're licensed to Uniden for a fee and like that wise person said earlier, "If I'm not gonna use it, I don't wanna pay for it."

UPMan passed away never would release the filter info he just said try different ones to you get the best result. No list has ever been posted.
Well we get the joy of discovery and tweaking and playing with until we get what we want. I have the SDS100 set up now and it runs.
I have to ask what are the advantages of having SO MANY DIFFERENT SCANNERS RUNNING AT THE SAME TIME?
Do you monitor specific channels or do they all rotate and scan..If I had a bunch..I would have one stuck on the ALL CALL channel and then 1 dedicated to the TAC Channels...with a 121.500 Priority watch for aircraft..I have no idea what I would do with the rest

Yes well we got that..:) I have a nationwide scanner not capable of running all systems nationwide..I have the database though...

If you have 20 Departments you can set the filters different in each department.
AUTO will slow the scanning down.
So why do people need to monitor 20 Departments at the same time...Human ears are two..and radios are 20...makes for an Air Traffic Control type of environment

Off topic lesson time over back on topic.
I regret buying the SDS 100 because the sofware to run it is slow and clunky compared to ARC BUTEL PRO and the BCD325P2.. The 325P2 is at least as good on the EDACS system and is hands down easier to program than the SDS100 with the Sentinel software.

So not to be repetitive here or off-topic... Your filter choices are normal which is default and applied to every object per Global filters. Unless you go in to a site or sites of a system or Department options that cover a conventional object and change it from Global to a specific filter, otherwise normal will be applied to every object. That's for a reason. You do not want to monitor Auto filters as Budd indicated, they sample all filters on every frequency and slow scanning way down and you never know what filter did the trick anyway so you really have the choices of... Normal, wide normal, invert or wide invert. Of course you can always choose no filter at all but... No RF interference in your area? You would have to live in the county of Nye. LOL.

There are very good posts in Threads in Uniden Tech forum. I've made several post on the detailed adjustment of filters and the best way to do it. Take a look there, kind of topic here. ;)

ART BELL used to live in Pahrump Nevada in the County of Nye..
As for the whole filter this and that discussion..wide narrow inverted...I get that..I am not going to get anywhere with this.. the radio is too complex to deal with on the fly..so its going to have to run this way until i run into a problem that required me to dig any further.
